Psychological Evaluation

A psychological evaluation includes the gathering of information regarding an individual via clinical interviews, rating scales, administration of standardized assessment tools, observations, and records review. This information is used for diagnostic decision-making, treatment planning, referring to recommended services, and advocacy. I currently provide psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults regarding the following areas of concern:

  • Anxiety-related disorders

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

  • Autism spectrum disorder

  • Executive functioning difficulties

  • Gifted assessment

  • Individualized Education Evaluations (IEE)/school-related problems

  • Intellectual disability

  • Learning problems/disability (e.g., dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia)

  • Mood disorders

  • Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

I currently do not provide treatment, such as

individual or group psychotherapy.

    • We will work together to ensure a psychological evaluation is appropriate and will align with your goals.

    • Screening measures may be administered to assist with clinical decision-making or evaluation planning.

    • We will discuss and agree upon the plan for the evaluation.

    • We will review the good-faith estimate.

    • If there is sufficient time, a clinical interview may be started to begin gathering pertinent psychosocial and developmental history.

  • Psychological testing includes the gathering of information in multiple ways, including:

    • Asking questions regarding psychosocial and developmental history (clinical interview).

    • Standardized, norm-referenced psychological assessments to evaluate strengths and weaknesses. These may assess cognitive abilities, executive functioning skills, academic skills, etc.

    • Standardized, norm-referenced rating scales. These may assess social-emotional development, adaptive skills, or diagnostic-specific symptoms/behaviors. I may also ask to have your child’s teacher(s) complete rating scales.

    • Assessment based observations.

    • We will discuss the results and the conclusion of the evaluation. This will include a review of strengths and weaknesses and what diagnoses are supported (and not supported) by the assessment information.

    • We will also discuss personalized recommendations to best support you/your child at home, in school, and in the community.

    • We will discuss if it is appropriate for your child to attend this appointment when scheduling.
